I absolutely adored Dr Malanga. I learned so much from him, and would rate him as the best professor I had in graduate school. We had a roommate who was depressed and self harming. Dr Malanga was the obvious choice to approach with the problem. I can still picture him waking her doing the hallway from the pharmacy school towards the hospital part, leading her towards counseling and help. I will love him forever, and always remember his intelligence and kindness.

Dr. Malanga will always be remembered by me for the care he showed in helping me recover from a head trauma incurred after the end of my first year in WVU pharmacy school during 1973. My entire life would not be the same if he had not taken the time to help me during my recovery. He was also a truly remarkable educator.

Dear Mrs. Malanga and C.J.,I am very sad to hear of Dr.Malanga's passing. He was one of my all-time favorite professors. As a student, I always knew that he wanted each of us to succeed and to leave WVU not only as pharmacists, but also as better people. He was a teacher of pharmacy and also a teacher of life. I will always remember his humor and wisdom. Before the start of many exams, he would invite the Holy Spirit to enter the room...we needed all the help we could get! On commencement day, I fondly remember how he called each of us by name to congratulate us. He really cared about students! He created a hope and enthusiasm for us to go out into the world to be great pharmacists.May God's peace be with you. I know that Dr. Malanga is with Our Lord right now.Lora Rosenecker Ometz, BS Pharm '93

I have fond memories of Carl! The first time I met him and Mary Lou was at Alfredo's Italian restaurant, off Pineview Drive. Pete and I were being wined & dined as Pete came in here for his second interview at the school. He helped us feel so at ease and welcome here in Morgantown and at WVU! He and Mary Lou had us over to dinner at their house a few times after we first moved here and helped us meet new people in the community. I will never forget the kindness you both showed to us, and how interested you always were in how our daughter, Amy, was doing. Many blessings, Theresa & Pete

Dear Mary Lou and CJ, I am so very sorry for you loss. Carl was such a kind, considerate and compassionate man. Every time I met him he always asked how I was doing, and never failed to ask about Neel and Krish. That is a very special trait. I know he was a wonderful teacher and mentor to many, but beyond that he was true gentleman in every way. He touched the lives of so many, and will be missed by all who knew him. God Bless you both, Sue

Dear Mary Lou and C.J., I was shocked to read, yesterday, that Carl had died. Carl's was a busy and productive life, both in this community and, professionally, at the University. His contributions to both will far outlast his physical presence here. Your memories of all that he accomplished and the personal ones that you both cherish will, I am sure, comfort you in the future. His was a life well lived and I am fortunate to have known him. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. With love and sympathy, Sarah Whitty

Dear Mary Lou and C.J. It was with great sadness I read of Carl’s passing this morning. For almost 15 years we sat near and then next to each other (and you guys) in Section 123 of Mountaineer Field. So many fall Saturday afternoons we spent together and I got to know one of the great personalities I have ever met. Positive, optimistic and outgoing! We watched ourselves and our kids grow and change over the years. I remember so many things, like our day spent together in Santa Barbara (and seeing Christopher Lloyd) and the last game before you guys retired to Arizona. The next fall was the first in many years Carl was not there and I called him in pre-game to have him hear the Mountaineer Marching Band take the field. I missed him then, I miss him now and will think of him every time I am in Section 123.With Fond MemoriesKen Martis
