Virginia Elizabeth Flanagan, 86, of Tallmadge, Ohio, formerly of Browns Chapel, WV, passed away on December 29, 2010.Virginia was born in Corinth, WV, on March 10, 1924, the daughter of the late Truman Nethkin and Ida Coulter.She was a member of the Granville Apostolic Church. She was a Trustee, Church Secretary, and on the Advisory Board. She also played the piano for the church. She retired in 1990 from West Virginia University, Physical Education Department with 27 years of service. She enjoyed her two cats and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Virginia is survived by her son, Michael Flanagan Sr. and wife Nellie of Uniontown, OH two grandchildren, Michael Flanagan Jr. and wife, April, of Jackson, OH and Lisa Flanagan of Tallmadge, OH three great grandchildren, Aaron Flanagan, Kalynn Flanagan, and Ryan Flanagan all of Jackson, OH two sisters, Mary Leslie her twin sister of Oakland, MD, and Ruth Grieb of Oakland, MD, as well as many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Elton Flanagan Sr., brother, John Nethkin and sister, Mae Henry.Family and friends will be received at Granville Apostolic Church, Granville, from 1-2p.m. on Sunday, January 2, 2011. A funeral service will be held in the church at 2p.m. with Rev. Alfred Reed officiating. Burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery. Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
