Betty Beaumont of Huntington passed away peacefully in Morgantown on Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Betty was born in Caerphilly, Wales, the daughter of the late Winifred Hughes Broughton and Fred Broughton. Betty was preceded in death by Arthur John Beaumont of Huntington her husband of fifty-seven years. She is survived by a son Arthur John Beaumont, Jr. and daughter-in-law Lee Ann Beaumont of Morgantown, two grandchildren Jennifer Beaumont of Huntington and William Beaumont of Spokane, Washington.During World War II she was a capstan lathe operator in Oswestry, Shropshire making parts for Spitfires, Hurricanes and fire engines. It is there in Oswestry that Betty met and married Bo a soldier in the United States Army. Betty immigrated to the United States as a British War Bride in 1946, and began a new life in Huntington in her adopted country. She worked for Sears Roebuck as a salesperson for many years, and was a charter member of Bates Memorial Presbyterian Church. Betty loved animals and had a special fondness for cats. Over the years many a stray cat found their way to Betty and Boâs door to become part of their feline family.Betty will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to the charity of your choice.
