Obituary of Sarah Boyers-Canby

Sarah (Ruth) Boyers-Canby left her earthly home and joined her loved ones Tuesday, December 7, 2010.She was the daughter of Allen and Mary Ann McBee Price. She was born in Monongalia County, Clinton District on March 16, 1913. She was a member of the First Baptist Church on High Street since 1927.She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 35, Ladies Oriental Shrine of Wheeling, and Ladies Oriental Shrine Club - Morgantown Chapter. She was past President of Ladies Dental Auxiliary, past Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls, and a member of U.S. Public Health Club in Bethesda, Md. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Dr. Harold H. Boyers in 1973 and her second husband Dr. Henry F. Canby in 2000 four brothers, Charles, Fred, Bruce and James Price and one sister, Mary Elizabeth Price Pell. She is survived by three step-children Diane Canby Thompson (Tom), Marilyn Canby Baas (Ervin) and Carin Canby Carmack (Wendell), grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces Elizabeth Pell Bebout, and Ruth Cisco (David), and nephews William Pell (Carol), Fred Pell (Patricia), Allen Price (Penny) and several other nieces and nephews who have lost contact. She is also survived by many great and great-great nieces and nephews who have enjoyed her and will miss her. At her request, Hastings Funeral Home provided cremation services and a private inurnment of her cremains will be held at the convenience of her family. A memorial service will be held on January 16, 2011 at 3pm at the First Baptist Church, 432 High St. Morgantown, with visitation with the family beginning one hour prior to the start of the memorial service.
