Obituary of Betty Brand

Betty Jane Adams Brand, 85, of Lakeland, FL and formerly of Morgantown, went to join our Lord on Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Hawthorne Inn & Assisted Living Center in Lakeland, FL. Betty was born in Morgantown on March 29, 1925 a daughter of the late Gilbert Carl Adams and Maria Jane Brandt Adams.Betty graduated from University High School, attended Morgantown Business College and then married her husband Donald Lynch Brand, who survives her, on August 2, 1944. Her work accomplishments include head cashier for Montgomery Ward until joining her husband as office manager for their Amoco Oil Marketer.Her other achievements were being treasurer and member of the Cheat Lake United Methodist Church, Regent for Col. John Evans Chapter of the D.A.R. of which she was a member for over 25 years, and was a member of Glassaholics of Lakeland, FL.In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jane Ann Brand John and her husband William John of Lakeland, FL two grandsons, Scott William John and his wife, Kimberly and their children, Kaitlyn and Karlee, of Travelerâs Rest, SC and Christopher Brand John and his wife, Crystal and their son, David, of Bartow, FL and one brother, James Adams of Morgantown.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Charles David Brand on October 13, 1957 and one brother, Harry Myers.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, December 8, and again on Thursday December 9 from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM with Pastor Michael Rowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Cemetery, Over Cheat.
