Joseph Franklin McArdle, Jr., 78 of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010 at his residence.Joe was born in Smithtown on February 29, 1932, a son of the late Joseph Franklin McArdle, Sr. and Hazel Marie (Trader) McArdle.Joe graduated from Morgantown High School and attended the Morgantown Business College. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner and operator of McArdle Painting and Papering Company in Morgantown. Joe was a Captain in the Morgantown Fire Dept and retired after 27 years of service. He was a member of the IAFF Local 313 the First Baptist Church of Morgantown. Additionally, he was well known in the area for his more than 40 years of service as a volunteer coach in the Little League, Pony and Babe Ruth Baseball Leagues. For the last few years, he was employed by BOPARC where he assisted in trail maintenance.He is survived by his wife, Ann Ramsey McArdle his children, Jeffrey McArdle and Judy Kraycar of Morgantown, Stacey McArdle and wife Christine of House Springs, MO, Karen Walters Bryan of Mt. Morris, PA, Barbara Walters and David Lazzell of Morgantown and James Edwin Walters Jr. and wife Sharon also of Morgantown his grandchildren, Jared McArdle and wife Stephanie of Morgantown, Jacqueline McArdle of Morgantown, Elijah, Seth and Kaya McArdle of House Springs, MO, Jessica Walters and Mark Buckingham of Morgantown, Garrett and Hunter Walters of Morgantown, Elizabeth âKatyâ Bryan of Mt. Morris, PA, Jeremy and Leigh-Ann Bryan of Mt. Morris, PA and Allison and Jamie Wolfe of Morgantown his great-grandchildren, Kamille McArdle, Bobbi Bryan-Wolfe and Aaden McArdle as well as several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Buddy. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy Harrison McArdle, Gene Curtis McArdle his half brother, Edward McArdle and his son-in-law, Robert W. Bryan, Jr. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Tuesday, Nov. 30, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM and again on Wednesday, Dec. 1, from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Al Cooper officiating. Interment will follow in East Oak Grove Cemetery where Full Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside.
