James Morgan Garletts, 76, of 822 Somerset Street, Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at his residence.James was born in Morgantown on June 10, 1934, a son of the late James C. Garletts and the late Augusta (Kalons) Garletts. James graduated from Morgantown High School. Immediately after graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he retired with the rank of Staff Sergeant after 22 years of service. While in the Air Force, he was a crew chief and led a staff of aircraft sheet metal workers. He served during the Korean and Vietnam Conflicts. He was an avid gardener. Being very mechanically inclined, he enjoyed working on cars, as well as spending time hunting and fishing. Survivors include his siblings, Lois Longfellow of Morgantown, Marguerite Kennedy of Point Marion, PA and Roy Garletts & his wife Joyce of Morgantown a sister-in-law, Antilee Garletts a brother-in-law, Charles Smith, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Vivian Smith one brother, Donald C. Garletts and two brothers-in-law, Donald Longfellow and O. Roger Kennedy. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Monday, November 29 from 9:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover, where full military honors will be accorded at the graveside.
