James âJamieâ Shannon Coombs, 60, of Sierra Farm Road, Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.Jamie was born in Morgantown on December 5, 1949, the son of LaRue Shannon Wilson and the late James E. Coombs.He was Catholic by faith. Jamie had attended Staunton Military Academy he graduated from MHS and received his BA from WVU. After leaving WVU he joined the family business known as Baker & Coombs Construction. He was a member of the Laborers Union Local 379. He shared his love of sports with his son, especially the Miami Hurricanes. Jamie enjoyed listening and performing live classic rock music. In addition to his mother LaRue, he is survived by his companion, Carol DeBerry, his wife, Gilda Coombs, a son, James âJamieâ Shannon Coombs II, a brother, Douglas J. Coombs, a sister, Kathryn âKyttâ Coombs Howard, and a nephew, Max Howard. He will be sorely missed by his family and menagerie of animals that he left behind. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., on Thursday, November 4, from 10am-12 noon. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at noon on Thursday. Inurnment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
