Annabelle Banks, 87, of Miller Street, Morgantown, passed away Monday, November 1, 2010 at her residence.Annabelle was born in Morgantown on January 11, 1923, the daughter of the late Gay Chipps, Sr., and Mary Staley Chipps. She had worked in the laundry department at Vincent Pallotti Hospital as well as the owner of Annâs Place on the Mileground. Annabelle was a loyal member of Goshen Baptist Church for many years.She was a devoted wife, wonderful mother, Nanny and Grand Mother. She was lovingly referred to as Granny Banks, âOldâ Nanny Banks, Gert, Tinker Bell and Aunt Hine by those close to her. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Ann Banks of Morgantown, Sandra McCabe and husband Jim of Kingwood, Wameth Miller and husband, Dan of Morgantown, her sons Denzil (Denny) Banks, Jr. and wife Judy of Morgantown and Butch Banks and wife, Jane of Morgantown, her grandchildren, Fred and Chris Simmons, Sherry Pavelko and husband, Rodney, Sandra Renner and husband Craig, Rick Meleady and wife Linda of Vermont, Lisa Ann Mitchell and husband William, Delmas Lee, Jr. and wife, Buffie, Dianna Sanders and husband, Barry, Jereme Ash and wife Shawn, Tammi Kennedy and husband, David, and Heather Banks, 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, three step grandsons, Mathew, Scott, and James McCabe Jr., sisters, Emma Sickles and husband, Duane, Margaret Hamrick and a brother, James (Skippy) Chipps and wife, Sue, sister-in-laws Doris Chipps, Betty Everetts and Jane Poole, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Denzil Banks, Sr. a daughter, Judy Bolton, a sister, Mabel Palmer and two brothers, John Black and Gay âChippyâ Chipps, Jr. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 5-8pm on Thursday, and from 10-11am on Friday, November 5. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11am Friday, with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Morgantown.
