William âBillâ Nelson Ervin, 81, of Bakers Ridge Road, Morgantown, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Monongalia General Hospital Tuesday, October 26, 2010. Bill was born in Morgantown on September 4, 1929 the son of the late James Archie and Aulda Kaufman Ervin.Bill graduated from University High School in 1949. He was a cable splicer for C & P Telephone Company and retired in 1984 after 32 years of service. Bill was a member of the Telephone Pioneers, the Odd Fellows Lodge and was a long time member of the Pines Country Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was an avid golfer.He was a member of Riverside Apostolic Church.He is survived by his wife of 60 years Reeda Wilkins Ervin three daughters, Debbi and Rick McCullough, Patti and Lou Debone both of Morgantown, Amy and Scott Cannon of St. Petersburg, Florida grandchildren, Toby and Paige McCullough, Stacie and Butch Rogers, Justin and Kristin Tiberio, Zachary and Allie Cannon great-grandchildren, Alex and Gracie Rogers, Mara and Addison McCullough. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, David Franklin Ervin sisters, Ruthalee Robertson and Jackie Barill.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, Thursday, Oct. 28, from 2-4 and 6-9p.m. Monongalia Lodge #8, IOOF, will conduct a memorial service at 8:30p.m in the funeral home to conclude the evening service. Visitation will continue on Friday, Oct. 29 from 10:00a.m.until the time of the funeral service in the funeral home at11:00a.m. with Pastor David M. Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and nurses at Monongalia General Hospital and Health South. The family asks that donations be made in Billâs memory to the Riverside Apostolic Church, P.O. Box 2040, Morgantown, WV 26502.
