I worked with Doug long ago in laundry at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Before it was a "no smoking" campus, he would often open the back door and light up his pipe. He said many couldn't stand the smell of it, but once I told him I loved the smell of pipe smoke, as it reminded me of my grandfather, he would often come and find me so I could enjoy his smoke break with him. I honestly don't remember the things we talked about, but I have always remembered his kindness, and that wonderful soothing pipe smoke. This is many years later, but I'm still very grateful for having shared those moments with him.

As we will not be able to attend the services, we would like to send our condolences to the entire family. We were very sorry to hear of Doug's passing. I(Michael) enjoyed working with him at Warsinskys. Doug was always easygoing and had something funny to say. He was a really good guy. He will be greatly missed. Doug and I go back to Cheat Lake Jr. High where we became friends. He was a very good friend whom I thought about often and actually got back in touch with right before his marriage a few years ago when I met him and his future bride at Rock City while camping at Coopers Rock. I moved out of town a few weeks after graduation and lost touch with him for a while. Rest in peace my good friend..we had a great ride during our school years and I'm sure we will see each other again. My condolences to the entire family. John Woodall
