Douglas Allen Porter, 60, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, October 9, 2010, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.Douglas was born in Winchester, Virginia on October 7, 1950, the son of the late Frank Porter, Jr. and Mildred McMillen Porter.He was a member of the Morgantown Church of the Brethren.Doug proudly served his country in the U. S. Coast Guard, from 1969-1975. He was an employee of West Virginia University Hospital. He was treasurer of the trustees of the Morgantown Elks Lodge #411, he was an active member of the American Legion Post 2, and Laborers Local #814. He was a loving husband and father and will be missed. He is survived by his wife Lou Bailey Porter, his sons Daniel Porter and wife, Katherine of Lexington, Kentucky, Paul Porter of Morgantown, Ian Bailey and wife, Kay of Warner Robins, Georgia and Joshua Bailey of Morgantown his brothers, Dexter Porter and wife, Dickie Lee of Wilmore, Kentucky, David F. Porter and wife, Sheila of Morgantown and Donald W. Porter and wife, Charlene also of Morgantown one grandson David Bailey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Cremation services provided by Hastings Funeral Home.Family and friends will be received at the Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Tuesday, Oct. 12, from 7-9p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, Oct. 13, from 9-10a.m. A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:00a.m.with Pastor Carrie Eikler officiating. Inurnment will follow at the West Virginia Veterans National Cemetery in Pruntytown at 12:30 p.m.Donations may be made in Douglasâs memory to the American Legion Post 2, P.O. Box 1046, Dellslow, WV 26531-1046 , 746533,Frank William ,,Bush,3/5/1924,10/7/2010,Frank W. Bush, 86, of Granville, West Virginia, died peacefully October 7, 2010, at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born March 5, 1924, in Galliztin, PA, son of Alex and Mary (Skrok) Bush.After simultaneously graduating from University High School and trade school in 1942, Frank was employed by the Electric Boat Company in Groton, CT, as a welder. Later he relocated to Dravo Corporation in Wilmington, DE, were he worked as a shipyard welding foreman. During WWII, Frank served his country as a Corporal in the 97th Infantry Division. By April 1944, he was a Corporal in the 1st Calvary Division. The war ended while he was in Pilsen, Czech Republic. Upon returning to West Virginia, Frank briefly worked in maintenance for the Christopher Coal Company in Osage, WV, followed by welding with Heyden Chemical Corporation in Morgantown, WV. Frank then attended masonry school in Pittsburgh, PA, and along with his brother, Joseph, started their construction business â" Bush Brothers. Together they worked as masonry contractors and home builders in West Virginia, Ohio and Maryland. After his brotherâs death, Frank continued to work independently as a brick mason until his retirement. Frank enjoyed the outdoors and in particular fishing West Virginia waterways where he attributed his fishing successes to reading the water currents. He also enjoyed finishing home projects, watching Mountaineer sports and tending his vegetable garden. Frank even has a tomato named after him called Uncle Frankâs Keeper Tomato. More than anything else, Frank valued his time and memories spent with family and friends. He was a kind and generous person.He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joseph Bush, and his sisters Helen Bush Ball, Jean Bush McBee and Eleanor Bush Kandzari. He is survived by many beloved nephews and nieces and great nephews and nieces who will miss their Uncle Frank.The family will receive friends at St. Mary Catholic Church in Star City on Tuesday, Oct. 12th from 9:30 AM until the celebration of the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM with Father John V. DiBacco as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery, where full military honors will be accorded at the graveside by Morgantown VFW Post 548 and the WVANG Funeral Honors Detail of Camp Dawson, Kingwood.In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation in tribute to Frank W.
