Nancy,I just heard about Ray's passing. He was a wonderful man. He was the only GOOD dean I had in my 25 years at FCC. He as always fair. He made decisions based on the rules. He played no favorites. Sometimes it was frustrating that he always made decisions based on rules because sometimes those rules didn't make sense. But that was his way of doing thing. Much better than the deans I had after him.I wanted to share with you my favorite memory of Ray. I was hired full time in 1981. At that time Dorothy Naman was still in biology. After her retirement a couple years later I was the only female in MSE. At the beginning of each semester we had a division meeting. Ray would open the session by saying "welcome back LADY and gentlemen." Then he would laugh. He was a good dean, educator and I think friend. And most of all he was a great husband. I envy you for having such a loving man in your life.Barbara Sausen

Nancy: Ray was a sensitive, caring patient and generous colleague. He encouraged me as a instructor of physical geography and later urged me to become Division Dean of Social Science. He was a good tennis player. He greatly assisted other division deans new to the job. With his faculty and staff he planned the new science building. He was a tireless worker and an inspiration to us all. I shall never forget him.

I'm so sorry to learn of your loss. Please know that you are not alone. God will certainly be with you. He is "the Father of tender mercies" and the "God of all comfort". (2 Corinthians 1:3,4) He will soothe your hearts. Hold His promises near to your heart. Please accept my sincere sympathies.

Nancy, my prayers go out to you and your family. FCC was my first real job and Ray was my first supervisor. He often said that he and the office staff just worked for Jim and my self.

Chrunchy, I remember your father fondly. He was always doing the crossword puzzles at the swim meets. We all would pile into the VW Bus as kids. He was constantly asking us all questions to inspire us to think through a problem. Best yet he was there for you, Lynn Sager Sullivan

Dear Nancy and Renee, I am so sorry to hear of Ray's passing. I will always remember his smile and the way he continued to care about you, Nancy. Even when he was to tired to be of help. May he enjoy his heavenly reward. May god watch over you and the whole family. My prayers are with you all.

Dear Nancy,I do not know if you remember me from FCC and College Community Congregational Church, but I was hired to fill the role that Ray vacated when he retired. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you now and always. I had hoped to drive over on Saturday, but there are issues at my campus (Penn State Berks) that require my attention. May the wonderful life the two of you created together sustain you during these difficult times.Much Love,Susan
