Marguerite Catherine Scumaci, 87, of Pawleys Island, SC, formerly of Morgantown passed away Monday, September 6, 2010, at her residence.Marguerite was born in Library, PA on January 14, 1923, the daughter of the late Antonio Antonelli and Sheba Galucci Antonelli Rogers.Marguerite grew up in Ambridge, PA where she and her sisters performed in amateur talent competitions and school productions. She graduated from Ambridge High School where she was the featured vocalist in many productions. She had a beautiful messo-soprano voice and won a scholarship to Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio. World War II intervenened and she graduated from Carnegie Tech in Pittsburgh, PA, now Carnegie-Mellon University in 1945. She moved to Morgantown as a young wife and mother and was made an honorary member of the WVU Italian Womenâs organization, Beta lota. She sang as a soloist in the church choir at St. Teresaâs Roman Catholic Church and many will remember her as singing at their wedding at St. Theresaâs in the 50âs and early 60âs. Marguerite had six children, all attended local schools and West Virginia University. She and her husband, Ralph, a local dentist, were active band parents both at St. Francis de Sales School and at Morgantown High School. Marguerite moved to Pawleys Island, SC in October 2009, to live near her younger sister, Lois Romano, daughter Carla and son Sam.
