Obituary of Florence Godfrey

Florence Godfrey, 93, of Morgantown, formerly of Maple Shade, NJ, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2010, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.Florence was born in Fairmont on May 29, 1917, the daughter of the late Arthur E. and Lizzette Stewart Lewis. She was Presbyterian by faith. She attended Avery Elementary School, a one-room school in the Cheat lake area. She was a graduate of UHS she earned her bachelorâs degree in journalism from WVU and her masterâs degree in Library Science from Drexel University in Philadelphia. She was a librarian at Cherry Hill Public Library in New Jersey for many years. Florence enjoyed going to the beach and she was an avid ballroom dancer. She is survived by her sister, Martha Manning of Morgantown, several nieces and nephews as well as her extended family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Jeanne Louise Ridgeley, three brothers and four sisters. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, WV on Friday, July 16 from 11am-1PM . The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday afternoon in the funeral home.
