Harry (Sonny) Earl Carr, Jr., 69, of Morgantown, WV, born on May 26, 1941, in Montrose, West Virginia went home to the Lord on June 17, 2010 after a sudden illness. Harry grew up in Parsons, WV, graduated from Parsons High School in 1959, attended West Virginia University on a football scholarship and remained a loyal Mountaineer throughout his life. He graduated from WVU in 1964, with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He went on to work as a professional engineer in the area of roads and bridges with the West Virginia Division of Highways for nearly 40 years and most recently acted in a consultant capacity for AECom. He had a love for fishing and almost any sport. He enjoyed coaching and teaching football, basketball and baseball to many children in both West Virginia and Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Russell and Lovie Carr, parents Harry and Izetta Carr and brother Randall. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carole his two sons and daughters-in-law Jeff (Kathy) Carr of Rockville, MD, Brian (Brie) Carr of Charleston, WV and daughter Beverly Easterling of Charlotte, NC and seven grandchildren, Wesley, Courtney and Ashley Carr, Katie and Kylie Carr, James and Evan Easterling as well as his sister-in-law Debbie and husband Randy Oleksa and brother-in-law Bob Feathers. He was an active member of the Riverside United Methodist Church and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 21, 2010, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., in Morgantown and from 10:00-11:00AM on Tuesday, June 22, 2010. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00AM and presided over by Reverends Larry Peters and Carl Sherman. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover. Donations can be made to the Riverside United Methodist Church 336 Monongahela Ave., Morgantown, WV 26501.
