William âBillâ Nelson Nicholson, 90, of Dellslow passed away Friday, March 12, 2010, at Windy Hill Manor Personal Care Home in Kingwood. William was born in Morgantown on October 2, 1919, the son of the late James Calvin and Cora Elizabeth McMillen Nicholson. He served in U.S. Air Force from December 1941 until December 1945. He worked for many years as a coal miner retiring from Humphrey #7 Consol Mine. He enjoyed gardening, tending to his cattle on the family farm and spending time with his family and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Stieringer and spouse, Carroll, a granddaughter, Cathy McMaster and spouse, Mike, a grandson, Charlie Stieringer, and two great-grandchildren, Brady and Tyler McMaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Maxine Nuce Nicholson, a brother, Arnold Tom Nicholson and an infant brother and sister. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Windy Hill Manor for their kindness and wonderful care they provided for Dad. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-8p.m. on Monday, March 15. Visitation will continue at Nicholson Chapel Church from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 12 noon on Tuesday, March 16 with Rev. David Hilling and Rev. Francis Nicholson officiating. Cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
