John Eugene Willis, 89, of Heritage Pointe, Morgantown, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at Mapleshire Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center of Morgantown, WV.John was born in Kempton, Maryland on March 18, 1920, a son of the late Benjamin Franklin and Mary Rachel Grimes Willis.Sgt. Willis served our country during World War II and the Korean War. John was employed by PA & WV Supply Co., W.V.U., and retired in 1986 from Consol Coal Humphrey #7 Mine where he was a motorman. His interests were trains and W.V.U. sports. He was also a member of The Christian & Missionary Alliance Church where he served as an usher.John is survived by a son, John L. Willis and wife, Linda C. Willis of Morgantown two daughters, Cora J. Wills of Morgantown and Ramona K. Willis of Columbus, OH five grandchildren, Melinda McBee and husband, Bobby, Christal Kidwell and husband, Daniel, Tim Willis and wife Becca Thomas, and David Wills five great-grandchildren, Cody, Alexis, Maverick, Cheyenne, and Ava a sister-in-law, Alice Willis. and several nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Jean Kibbe Willis three sisters, Gwen, Arlie, and Marge and two brothers, David and Richard.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Monday, March 8 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 9 from Noon to 1:00p.m. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Douglas Miller officiating.Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the V. F. W. Post 548 and WVANG Military Honors, Camp Dawson, Kingwood, WV at the cemetery.Donations may be made in Johnâs memory to the Tender Loving Care Hospice, 246 Cheat Road, Suite 2, Morgantown, WV 26508.
