Virginia Elizabeth Nabors Starkey, 89, of Owl Creek Road, Morgantown, went home to be with Jesus on Monday, February 15, 2010 at Tygart Center of Fairmont.Virginia was born February 25, 1920 in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Harry Nabors and the late Matilda Grunbach Nabors.Virginia graduated from Morgantown High School in 1933. She was married to Orval Vance Starkey, her only boyfriend, on May 5, 1937. After Vanceâs passing on November 17, 1984, Virginia did volunteer work for Meals-On-Wheels for 25 years. Virginia worked at First Ward School and Starkeyâs Service Station, and took pride in raising many children.Virginia is survived by her children, Vance Starkey of Texas, Nancy Starkey Richmond and her husband Chuck and Susan Starkey and her friend, Joann Stringer, and David Starkey and his wife, Esther, all of Morgantown five sisters-in-law, Margaret Nabors of Ohio, Betty Nabors and Wilma Starkey both of Fairmont, Janet Nabors of Washington State, and Delores Starkey of Morgantown 10 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents and husband Vance, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Nabors Engle and Esther Nabors Gabbert and five brothers, Milton, James, Perry, Bill and Paul Nabors.Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from 4-7 PM Friday, February 19th, and again on Saturday, February 20th from 10-11 AM. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11 AM, with Reverend William R. Kinsey officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Morgantown.
