Mrs. Davis was one of the most sincere, understanding teachers I have ever known. I was not lucky enough to have her for my kindergarten teacher, however, I was lucky to get to spend time with her during my years at Central. All of the Christmas programs she assisted us with and the smiles and love of learning she gave to us will be held even closer to my heart. The stars will now shine brighter than ever before, and I, for one, will continue to wish on them every night and whisper goodnight to such a beautiful angel. God Bless.

Mary Davis was my first experience in public schools for my children. I was leary about them going to a school so big but when my oldest daughter (then my second) stepped foot in her room, we felt so welcome and didn't feel like she would be lost among the hundreds in the school. She welcomed me to be in the classroom at any time and appreciated parents in the room. I enjoyed all time I spent in her room and enjoyed her style of teaching. She will be sadly missed, she was a wonderful person.

I can not tell you how much Mary mean to those of us who are fortunate to know her through the Morgantown Fun Factory. It was not just the toys, books, or puppets she generaously share with the children who come through our door, but also her interests in each and every child (and their parents) she encountered. I learned to observe and appreciate the children through Mary's gentle, caring, and nonjudgemental eyes. I enjoyed each and every conversations with her about the children, arts, politics, education, parenthood and life in general. She will always live in my heart.

David, Jessica and Owen and extended family, your mother was a great lady., and when people speak of how child centered she was, well it can barely reach the tip of the iceberg. My mother (Phyllis) started out as a housekeeper, but ended up finding a loyal friend in your Mother. It has been a honor to have known your mother, and I pray for each of you at this difficult time. God Bless

Mary's support of the Morgantown Fun Factory was a tremendous asset to the group as we launched our pilot site at the Mountaineer Mall. She brought all the resources from her classroom: building sets, books, balls, hula hoops, puzzles, wheelbarrows, bean bag chairs and magnificent puppets. (If David is still looking for his Lincoln Logs, we probably have them!) More importantly, she brought her expertise in child development and her unflagging enthusiasm for the project. In our second year, she helped us resolve a crisis when the aging furnace became increasingly less efficient and our customers were having to stay wrapped up in their coats. We obtained a $5000 grant to replace the furnace, but that was still short of the amount needed. Mary made up the difference and we were able to keep our doors open.On behalf of everyone at the Morgantown Fun Factory, we extend our condolences to your family. We are so glad that we got to know Mary and benefited from her wisdom and generosity.

What a special lady! I am the mother of a daughter with Down Syndrome and when it was time for her to begin kindergarten I had great concern for her fitting in and being successful. My husband and I were told about your mother and her loving and open heart to all children. Kendra attended Central for kindergarten and I am so thankful that she had such a successful start in your mother's classroom. It was always a very stimulating and loving environment! You should feel so blessed to have had such a wonderful mom! God bless you.

Mary was a phenomenal Kindergarten teacher! I respected her work with children and preservice teachers. I had the pleasure of working with her throughout the years as she helped prepare the next generation of Early Childhood Educators. I still share her effective teaching methods with all of my classes today at WVU. She was a great mentor and role model for excellence in Early Childhood Education. Thank you, Mary, for all your fine work and unselfish teaching! May you rest in peace.

Your mother was a remarkable person. She had the courage to do what I wish I had done: go teach overseas. She certainly knew what she wanted to do then did it. Not many people can say that. Best to all of you.

Mrs. Davis was my Kindergarten teacher at Wesley UMC. I have so many fond memories of my first school experience with her. I was able to continue to visit with her as we both headed to Central Elementary the next year. She and her warm heart will be sadly missed. I join you in celebrating her life and mourning your loss. God's blessings.
