Please share a memory of Leona to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leona Marie Dixon Riffle, 95, of Brookhaven, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2009, while residing at the home of her daughter and son-in-law with her family by her side. She was born June 15, 1914, in Millfield, OH, a daughter of the late William Fletcher and Mattie Mable Watkins Dixon. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will always be in our hearts and minds. She was a devoted reader of her Bible and Christian fiction novels and a huge fan of Mountaineer basketball. She enjoyed spending time with her family- especially with her three precious great-granddaughters, Ashley, Madison and Amber. She was a member of Grace Bible Church and was a retired homemaker, having helped with children for many years. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, William and Karen Riffle, Jack and Sandy Riffle, Edwin, Jr. and Mary Riffle, all of Morgantown, one daughter and son-in-law, Inez and Loren Stump of Morgantown. She is also survived by three grandchildren and their spouses, Jeff and Joyce Riffle, Stacy and Kerry Riffle and Heidi and Josh Nizowitz, two step-grandchildren, Sheryl Ratke and Kendra McCarty, seven great-grandchildren, Ashley, Madison, Amber, Cheyenne, Sierra, Hunter and Sakoya Riffle and three step-great grandchildren, Jenna, Alec and Mason Ratke, one sister-in-law, Sylvia Dixon of Morgantown and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin B. Riffle, Sr. and a daughter, Donna Marie Riffle, Two sisters, Inez Kern and Florence Calendrelli and one brother, Glenford Dixon. We would like to extend our thanks to Morgantown Hospice for their kindness, generosity and love these past months. Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Sunday, November 22, from 1-4pm and on Monday, November 30, from 10-11am. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11am with Pastor Bennie Moran and Pastor Joe Peters officiating. Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover.
