Dad, Well,I finally got your funeral arrangements made and I also got your memorial service scheduled too. The funeral will help the family and I put closure on our loss of you. The memorial service will help all of those who grew close to you and loved you, celebrate your life and remember you! You will be buried with mom here in Maryland on December 11, 2009 and your Memorial Service will be on March 27, 2010 at the VA Chapel in Clarksburg. We all miss you and love you very much, me most of all, because I lost my best friend. Rest in peace, DAD!

"Speedy" will always hold a special place in my heart. I met him here, in the hallway, of the Louis A Johnson VAMC. We become good friends once we started talking about WVU athletics. I would print him articles out daily about what recruit was coming, what recruits had to say about their visits, etc. I spoke and joked with him for just about every day that he was here and he never could remember my name. He just called me "Big Daddy". This world is a little bit darker without him in it and anyone who ever met him become a better person for it. I love you Speedy and someday soon we will get a chance to catch up on everything.

I met Speedy the 1st week that I worked at the VA. He almost ran me over with his wheel chair coming around the corner of a hallway. I told him jokingly that he should slow down...he showed me his hat with Speedy written across the front of it.We had a nice laugh. Over time we had alot of nice laughs and became good friends. I hope that our friendship made his life here a little easier. What do we live for if it is not to make life less difficult to each other.I love you Speedy and I miss you. May God bless you for all that you were and all that you have done for others.Love, Mary

Dad,I am so glad I was with you when you passed and I am glad we were together the last two weeks before. I feel like I have lost my best friend, but I know you are at peace and you are not suffering anymore. The last 25 months and 5 days was horrible for you except when we were able to be together and visit. I think that helped you forget the pain you were in. I love you with all my heart and you will never ever be forgotten. You had a lot of friends at the VA and I saw that the last week or so and on my visits. Rest in peace! All my love, your daughter, Linda Lou Dawson

Though I didn''t know Ronald Wade, I knew of his courage and his love through his daughter, Linda Dawson. I know he will be deeply missed by his family and all those who cared for him and witnessed, first hand, his perseverance and bravery. My thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and his grandchildren and those whose lives he touched.

I am so very sorry for your loss, Linda. I will keep you and your family in my prayers, and if you need to talk, or just cry, I am here for you. I recently lost my mother, and every day I struggle with that... lean on your friends, linda. It will help get you through. I love you, and wish I could be there with you now. Randi LeMoine

Linda's loving care of her father is a reflection of the values he taught her. His influence lives on! Take comfort in God's promise to reunite those who desire to live with Him forever. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18

I had the good fortune to meet "Speedy" as he was known to the hospital staff here at the VA. He always had a smile and a "Hi Champ" for me when I would see him in the hallway. He was always willing to talk football or other sports and always seemed to really care what you thought. I really liked Speedy and miss his smiling face and our brief chats. He was a good man and I know he is in a better, pain free, place.
