John L. Trader, Sr., 89, of Canton Avenue, Star City, passed away Friday, October 3, 2009, at his home.John was born September 12, 1920 in Dola, Harrison County, WV the son of the late Marshall and Sarah Wines Trader.He graduated from University High School and attended West Virginia University School of Minerals. He worked as a foreman for Valley Camp Coal Company and later was employed by Consolidation Coal Company and retired in 1983.He was a member of the Suncrest United Methodist Church formerly Drummond Chapel, a member of UMWA Local #3031, the Izaak Walton League,Mended Hearts #209, and the Easton Avery Senior Citizens. John is survived by a daughter Cynthia Pritts and spouse Dennis of Mechanicsville, VA two sons, John Trader, Jr. and spouse Nancy of Morgantown, and Charles Trader and spouse Charlotte of Edenton, NC six grandchildren, Carol Barton, Cheri Trader, Christine Trader, Charles Trader, Cory Pritts and Carrie Pritts three great-grandchildren, Amber Hamrick, Jeffrey Sypolt, and Daniel Pritts and his sister-in-law, Betty Trader. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Leota Trader, one sister, Letha Yocum and three brothers, Donald, Charles and Frank Trader. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, on Monday, Oct. 5 from 3-7p.m. Visitation will continue at the Suncrest United Methodist Church from 10-11a.m on Tuesday, Oct. 6. Funeral services will be held in the church at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. William R. Kinsey officiating. Entombment services will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens at 1:00p.m Tuesday.Donations may be made in Johnâs memory to the Suncrest United Methodist Church, 479 Van Voorhis Road, Morgantown, WV 26505.
