Obituary of Ellen Bucklew

Ellen M. âChickâ Bucklew, 86, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at Monongalia General Hospital.Ellen was born in Preston County, on April 6, 1923, a daughter of the late Earl E. and Addie McGuiness Sterling. She was a 50 year member of First Christian Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor.Chick was an avid reader, enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching Sci-Fi movies and keeping up on the current events of the world. She is survived by her children, D. Steven Bucklew and wife, Patty of Morgantown, Judith Shreve and husband, Douglas of Petersburg, WV, Jill Burgess and husband, Oscar of Morgantown and Dean Bucklew and wife, Debra of Morgantown 11 grandchildren 16 great-grandchildren her brother, Samuel Sterling and wife, Vi of Mississippi and her sisters, Mrs. Tillie Bonafiled and Mrs. Jerry Brown of Ohio, Mrs. Ruth Bolyard of Westover, and Mrs. Barbara Greaser and husband, Robert of Kingwood.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Donald âTonyâ Bucklew, two brothers, Winston Sterling and Paul Sterling and her sisters, JoAnn Sterling, Elenor Crabtree, Jean Sloane and her twin sister, Helen Pendergast.Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., from 6-9pm Thursday, September 10, and from 10-11am on Friday. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11am Friday, with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
