Obituary of Larry Roy

Larry Clyde Roy, 61, of Morgantown passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, August 31, 2009.He was born June 10, 1948, in Waynesburg, PA, a son of Edna Shahan Roy of Kirby, PA and the late Clyde Roy. He was a 1966 graduate of Waynesburg High School and worked for WVU Health Science Center for 42 years, as an operations manager.Larry was a devoted husband, son and brother and also a beloved brother-in-law. He enjoyed NASCAR, antique cars, hunting and reading westerns.In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 36 years, Mary McIntyre Roy whom he married June 8, 1973 one brother, Gary Roy and his wife, Kim of Mt. Morris, PA and one sister, Sharon Hixenbaugh and her husband, Shirrel of Kirby, PA. He is also survived by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who loved him as a brother, Maxine and George Solt of Morgantown, Robert and Shirley McIntyre of Newburg, and Thelma and Michael Stone, Billie Jo and Jeff Osecky and Scott McIntyre all of Morgantown, as well as several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Verona and Kenneth Shahan, a niece Patty Jo Becker, sister-in-law Martha Sturba and brother-in-law Giulio Sturba.Friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, September 3, and from 10-11 AM Friday, Sept. 4. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home at 11AM Friday with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.",87241
