Obituary of Geraldine McDonald

Geraldine "Minnie" Maxon McDonald, 82, of Beulah Rd., Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Donna McDonald.Born in Pursglove, WV on April 3, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Alma Albert "Jinx" Maxon and the late Goldie (Murray) Maxon.Survivors include two sons, Roger McDonald and his wife, Donna and Gary McDonald and his wife, Linda all of Beulah Rd. four grandsons, John G. McDonald and his wife, Kerri of Beulah Rd., James A. McDonald and his wife, Lisa of Dellslow, Joseph L. McDonald and his wife Cindy of Terra Alta and Jerry M. McDonald and his wife, Rachel of Richard, WV three great-grandsons, John Scott McDonald, Adam Ray McDonald and Trevor Isaac McDonald one great-granddaughter, Samantha Ann McDonald and one step-great grandson, Zachary Alan Shrout. The fourth of eleven children, she is also survived by two sisters, Nancy L. Nicholson of Mountain Heights and Virginia ""Sally"" Wolfe of Breakiron Rd. as well as and two sisters-in-law, Pauline Maxon and Linda Maxon, both of Beulah Rd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Julia Britton and Alma Gregg six brothers, Cyrus âBuckâ, Paul, Marvin âSpikeâ, Jack, Robert âBobâ and Joseph Maxon three sisters-in-law, Jean Hilling Maxon, Goldie McMillen Maxon and Ella Blosser Maxon and four brothers-in-law, Pete Nicholson, Sam Gregg, Harry Wolfe and Roy Britton.She retired from the Housekeeping Department of WVU Hospitals after 31 years of service.Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St. Morgantown is providing cremation services to the family.The family requests that everyone gather at the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery on Summers School Rd. on Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 11:00 AM for a graveside committal service with Reverend David Hilling presiding.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mrs. McDonaldâs name may be made to either the Nicholson Chapel Cemetery, 1386 Summers School Rd., Morgantown, WV 26508 or to Tender Loving Care Hospice 246 Cheat Rd., Suite 3, Morgantown, WV 26508.Send condolences online at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com.
