Obituary of Ella Dixon

Ella Dixon, 91, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday morning, December 18, 2012 at Monongalia General Hospital.
Ella was born in Friendsville, MD on April 6, 1921, the only child of the late Charles and Dakota Savage Dixon.
Survivors include several cousins, including Margaret Lampe of Olney, MD, Charles Thomas of Oakland, MD, Sarah Dyer of Olney, MD, Linda Irons of Rockville, MD, Jerry Dixon, of Morgantown, WV, Ray Dixon of Farmington, WV and Brenda and Jerry Dixon, Sr. of Morgantown. Additionally, she is survived by her special friends who always looked out for her, Donna and Carl Walls, Dale Cunningham, and Ruth & Delbert Mahaffey all of Morgantown.
Ella retired as a sales clerk from the former Woolworth's Department Store in Morgantown. She enjoyed shopping at Wal-Mart, working word find puzzles and reading. She was an avid Bingo player in her later years and also liked to watch football and basketball games on television. Ella was a member of the Rock Forge Presbyterian Church.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown from on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12 Noon with Chaplain James L. Riggs officiating. Everyone is then asked to meet at the Blooming Rose Cemetery in Friendsville, MD at 2:30 PM Friday afternoon, at which time the graveside committal service will be held.
