Obituary of Alexander Joseph Gyorko

Alexander Joseph Gyorko, 79, of Greenway Ave., Cedarhurst Edition, Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at his residence after a long fight with Multiple Sclerosis.
He was born in Morgantown on March 9, 1933, a son of the late Stephen Gyorko and the late Susan (Rati) Gyorko.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Aitken Gyorko; two sons, A.J. Gyorko of Morgantown, and Joseph Thomas Gyorko and his wife Marcella of Irwin, NC; four grandchildren, Christopher and Nicholas Gyorko, and James and Nicolas Catto; two brothers, Brinley Gyorko and his wife Josephine of Florida, and Elmer Gyorko of Morgantown; and one sister, Elizabeth Blosser of Morgantown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Steve, Bill, Eugene, Ernie, Coleman and Thomas Gyorko; and one sister, Irene Gyorko.
Mr. Gyorko was previously employed with Galis Electrical Co. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He served as a past Post Commander for the Westover VFW Post 9916.
He was an avid fisherman in his earlier years. He will be best remembered by all who knew him as a man who was always in a good mood, had a kind word to say, and was always helpful to his family and friends in any way that he could be, at any time
Family and friends will be received at the Avery United Methodist Church, 1152 Cheat Rd., Morgantown WV on Friday, December 28th from 5-8 PM and again on Saturday, December 29th from 10 AM until the time of the service at 11 AM with Reverend Richard Work officiating. Interment will follow in the East Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, where Full Military Rites will be accorded at the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mr. Gyorko's memory to Morgantown Hospice, PO Box 4222, Morgantown, WV 26504.
The entire family would like to thank Melissa Yost and Sue Sisler, along with all of the Morgantown Hospice caregivers for their love and care.
