Obituary of Charles Bush

Charles Bush, 79, of Morgantown, passed away Friday, April 5, 2013 at Monongalia General Hospital. Charles was born in Savanna, IL on September 19, 1933 the son of the late Elmo and Lillian Marie Dyer Bush. In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lucia (Squarcette) Bush. He is survived by his son Charles "Bubby" Bush, Jr., and daughter L. Marie Shahan and husband Allen; and three grandchildren, Aimee Shahan, Loralie Shahan, and Arica Ward and husband Matt; brother Richard "Dick" Bush and wife Ginny, and sister Jaunita Yun and husband Leon; and several nieces and nephews. Charles was a proud US Marine who served 3 years in Korea, and was also a long standing active member of the Marine Corps League #342 in Morgantown, WV, as well as the Marine Corps League Union Colony Detachment #1093 in Colorado. He was an avid sports fan, having played football for WVU for two years, and always coaching little league in the community. He also helped start the Morgantown Football Pony League. Charles was also a well known and popular Bingo caller for many years all over the area. He loved to fish and bowl, and was occasionally known to enjoy a good slot machine or trip to Las Vegas. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Pastor Sean Wightman officiating. Interment will follow in the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV where full military honors will be accorded.
