Obituary of Don Richard Henderson

Don Richard Henderson, 78, of Rolling Hills Village, Morgantown, and formerly of Fairmont, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2013 at his residence.
He was born in Fairmont on September 29, 1934, a son of the late James Henderson and the late Christine (Matthews) Henderson.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris Ann Dempsey Henderson, and one son, Richard Ralph Henderson of Morgantown, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four siblings, George Henderson, Mary Jo Watkins, John Henderson and James Henderson, thus making him the last surviving member of his immediate family. Additional, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law, Ivan F. and Barbara A. Wilson, and Jack A. and Betty V. Dempsey, and one nephew, Jerry Wilson.
Don was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He spent 27 years working for Arkwright and Consolidation Coal Company as an underground electrician and a lamp man.
He was a member and supporter of the Mon Valley Railroad Historical Society, and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He loved hunting and collecting guns.
He was a born again Christian who believed firmly in the teachings of Jesus Christ and was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church in Barrackville.
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown on Wednesday, August 7th from 2:00 - 8:00 PM and again on Thursday, August 8th from 12 Noon until the time of the service at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Knotts officiating. Interment will follow in Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens, Westover where Full Military Honors will be accorded at the graveside..
