Lots of people find the love of their life, but not so many are fortunate to have that same person as their very best friend. I can quite honestly say that I have been very blessed to have not only found the love of my life but have also shared 28 years of marriage with my Best Friend. It just doesn't get any better than that!
Brenda was one of the most honest trusting and caring people that I've ever known. She always put others first over her needs. Just ask our sons about the times they ordered their food at the McDonald's and then ate all of theirs and then proceeded to eat all of Brenda's. Brenda never said a word, she just let have all the wanted. She loved those boys and she just wanted them to have everything they needed.
I can remember lots of times when funds were not as plentiful, but Brenda always put buying Christmas gifts for our sons first. That was just the kind of mom she was.
In our 28 + years of marriage, neither Brenda nor I ever failed to tell each other "I Love you" before going to bed. We also repeated those three words many times every day, in fact it was the last words spoken by Brenda to me and the last words I spoke to her before she was called home to Heaven.
A best friend is a person who, no matter how big a mess you make, still loves you unconditionally and is by your side during the bad times as well as the good. Brenda and I were always by each others side and we shared everything except hunting. We tried that once but Brenda never seemed to grasp the need to remain still and quite while waiting to see game. That experience lasted just one half day, but we had a lifetime of laughs telling this story.
I really miss my beloved Arkansas sweetheart that took a chance and fell in love with me as much as I fell in love with her. You really know it's real love when that special person that you've decided to share your life with is also your BEST FRIEND FOREVER!,
