Obituary of Laura Juanita McDonald

Laura Juanita "Granny" McDonald, 91, of Morgantown, passed away Saturday, November 2, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in Liberty, TX on March 1, 1922, the daughter of the late Paul DeRouseau and Ellen Griffin DeRouseau. Everyone who knew Laura adored her and affectionately called her "Granny". She loved animals especially all of her cats and dogs. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends. She was a wonderfully loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Linda Fontenot of Morgantown and Rachel Cook of Missouri; her grandchildren, Michele (Roger) Oldaker, Stephanie Frazier, Justin Fontenot, Nicole (John) Imm, Alicia (Mark) Bequette and Corinne (Anthony) Lige ; her great-grandchildren, Travis, Brandt, Brianna, Drew, Shane, Alec, Kyle, Nathan, Luke, Gavin, Nicholas and Joshua; her sister Louise Oveido; in-laws, Betty McDonald, Joe (Joan) McDonald, Georgie Hilling and Mearl McDonald and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest McDonald, son-in-law, Clarence Fontenot, brothers, Joseph and Matthew DeRouseau; sisters, May Vales and Agnes Verrett. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation for the loving support provided by Hospice Care. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home., 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 2-4 and 6-8. A Scriptual Wake service will be held at 7:30pm Tuesday to close the evening visitation. Visitation will continue at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, One Guthrie Lane, Morgantown on Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 10:00 am until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with Rev. John J. Peck, O.S.B. as Celebrant. Burial will follow at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care, 3363 University Avenue, Morgantown, WV 26505.
