Obituary of Donald Hutchison

Donald Aubrey "Hutch" Hutchison of Heritage Point passed away on January 26, 2014.
"Hutch" as he was known by his friends, was born September 3, 1921, in Ravenswood, West Virginia, the son of late Oscar Cyril "O.C." Hutchison and Mabel Ford Hutchison.
He attended public schools in Silverton, WV graduating from Ravenswood High School in 1941. He received BS and MS degrees from the West Virginia School of Agriculture. He was employed as a West Virginia Extension Agent in Wood and Marshall Counties for twenty years before returning to West Virginia University, where he served as animal specialist from 1971 until his retirement in 1981. Following his retirement, he served as a volunteer at the Shack Neighborhood House for four years. He was a talented woodworker and left many unique handcrafted items for his family. He was a member of Suncrest United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine Smith Hutchison, whom he married on July 26, 1950; one daughter, Ruth Ann King and her husband, Rick, of Hurricane, WV; three grandchildren , Ethan (Heather), Rachel (Earl) and Abi King; and four great-grandchildren, Brayden, Jaden, Marlee and Earl IV; one sister, Marjorie Davis of Pennsboro. Four brothers, Leon, Paul, Carl and Milo, are deceased.
The Hutchisons, long-time Morgantown residents, moved to The Village of Heritage Point in 1999, where they were charter members.
In accordance with Hutch's wishes, cremation services have been provided by Hastings Funeral Home.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, January 30th at Suncrest United Methodist Church, 479 Van Voorhis Rd., Morgantown, WV 26505, from 10 AM until the time of the memorial service at 11 AM with Rev. Tim Halloran officating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Heritage Point Employee Appreciation Fund, the WVU Foundation for the WV State 4-H Camp at Jackson's Mill or a charity of your choice.
