Obituary of Stanley Ray Kerns

Stanley Ray Kerns, Jr., 61, went to be with the Lord Thursday, January 30, 2014. Stanley lived in Brookhaven his whole life. He was a retiree from the United Mine Workers of America after 29 years of service at Consol Energy's Humphrey Mine. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Ray kerns, Sr., and brother-in-law, Douglas Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane "Myrtle" Kerns of Brookhaven, his mother Loretta Blanche Kerns of Greensboro, NC, formerly of Brookhaven; his siblings, Linda Gerard of Morgantown, Sharon Anderson of Greensboro, NC, Kathy Willis of Sterling, VA, Gale Kerns of Sterling VA, Kenneth Kerns of Reidsville, NC, Vanessa Rowe of Huntsville, AL; his daughters, April and Scott Layton of Tunnelton and Amanda and Brooks Boettger of Drums, PA; step children, Amy Laudermilch and fiancé Michael McIntyre and Dustin Laudermilch and fiancé Ashley Hutchins both of Morgantown; He also had many loving grandchildren, Nicole Weaver, Kirstin Nething, Katlyn Ast, Kara Ast, Richard Layton, Charlene Layton and Regan Laudermilch. Last but not least his loving companion "Pike". Stanley will never be forgotten. Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating.
