Obituary of James Maurice Malcolm

James Maurice Malcolm, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2014, at his home. He was born near Shinnston and Bridgeport and can well remember being in the direct path of the Shinnston tornado. It can be well remembered that he often said that he was 18 years old. He was the oldest son of the late Parker (Sam) and Geraldine (Jerry) Nuzum Malcolm. Along with his Dad, he helped start the family business, Climate Control company, and worked there several years before moving on to serve in the United States Army. During his service in the Army, he was a drill sergeant and a specialist, and lived many years in El Paso, Texas, Germany, South Korea and other Posts. Sometime after his retirement from the Army, he and his family moved back to Morgantown and he worked several local jobs before retiring from the WVU PRT. He was preceded in death by his wife Leola Faye, less than one year ago, and an infant son, Andre H. Malcolm, as well as a baby sister, Barbara Ruth Malcolm. He is survived by his five children, Kenneth Kennerson, Steven Kennerson, Jennifer Ann Malcolm, Patrick Charles Malcolm and Clarisa Marie Malcolm, as well as eleven grandchildren. He is also survived by four brothers and a sister, David (Pat) of South Carolina, Carolyn Wisman of Morgantown and Florida, John (Nancy) of Morgantown, Stephen of Morgantown, and Fred (Terri) of New Hampshire. Hastings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and at his request, the body will be cremated. A committal service will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 at 10 AM at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown.
