To the family of Marie Fansler:
Please accept my deepest sympathy. When I was first invited to become a member of Beta Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, Marie was very active in our chapter. She added the spark to our chapter with her caring and leadership and humor. What a delight to get to know her! After her retirement when she returned to W. VA. our chapter members deeply missed her.
No time on earth is long enough to share with those we love or to prepare our hearts for good-bye. May time soften the pain until all that remains is the comfort of memories...and the love, always the love.
Most sincerely, Gretchen Reed

Nancy and Family,
I will always remember your Mom and Dad in Davis. I was just a kid growing up across the street from their house on Thomas Avenue. They would come home in the summers from Ohio and I would usually be around to help them unpack the car. They were great neighbors and so much fun to be around. I can remember going over to the house and sitting on the front sun porch and just listening to stories. I will miss your Mom and I have been missing your Dad for a while now. Great memories of growing up in Davis.

Nancy and Family:
Your mom was a long time friend of the family went to school with my Dad at Davis and was well loved and admired by all. I met her when I was introduced to you and your family in 1962. Of course she was a great admirer of the Worden Hotel and my Grandmother. We were 16 way back then but I remember her like it was yesterday. I often stopped by to talk to her and your Dad when they came in. Please know that you have my deepest sympathy and condolences for your loss.

So sorry for your loss, Nancy. Your Mom was such a nice Lady. Always a Lady. I have fond memories of you as a girl and then a teenager--always with your flute and a smile for everyone. Your Mom had lots of students over the years, but You were always her favorite. Just know you were loved so dearly and that she is in a far better place. I'll remember you and your family in my prayers.

I was saddened to hear of Marie's passing.
I worked with her in many capacities as a leader of the Howland Classroom Teachers Association. She mentored me and became a great friend. I cherish memories of the many exciting, challenging, and fun times that we had. She was a wonderful educator, a defender of public school employees, and (above all) a fine, fine lady.

Howland Schools Retired Personnel send deepest condolences to Marie's family. Her colleagues remember her with fondness. Marie always wanted to receive our monthly newsletter and often responded witih comments relating to the news of those in the group. She always concluded her notes with a line or two about how much she enjoyed teaching in Howland (OHIO) and how much she cherished her friendships here. Those who did not have the privilege of working with or knowing Marie were made aware of what a great teacher and colleague she was by those who did. Marie faithfully contributed a very generous donation to the scholarship our group awarded through the Howland Community Scholarship Foundation each year. She was still an avid supporter of our community, our school system and the students of Howland. Her family should be very proud of her legacy of a life well lived.

Mrs. Fansler was my World History teacher at Howland High School in 1975. She was a MOST positive influence in my life. I well remember her wonderful sense of humor, her dedication to the teaching profession and her passion for passing on knowledge to her students. Her professionalism was unmatched. She was truly a woman in her own class WAY ahead of her time! What a privilege for all of us at Howland High School to have the chance to associate with such an honorable person.
