I want to thank Alex's family for posting such a nice picture of him, and I wish to express my deepest sympathy for the great loss you must still feel. I met Alex through the context of caring for his mother. Alex hired me in August 2013 as Ann's full time caregiver while he was at work Monday - Friday and occasionally on weekend days. I only saw him briefly in the mornings before he went to his job. In the afternoons when he came back he, Ann, and I would talk for a little while before I left for the day. I enjoyed those conversations, which Alex often brightened with his sense of humor. Most of all, during the one year that I was blessed to know him I grew to respect and admire Alex as an interesting, intelligent, generous, caring person. I have NEVER seen any son (or daughter) as devoted to his mother as Alex was to Ann! They were very close, and I love them both. They became like family to me. I still miss them and think of them and pray for them, and I'm sure I always will. I will always fondly remember the good times we shared. May God bless you eternally, Alex.

My deep condolences go out to the family, friends, and associates of Alexander George Gavula. I had the privilege of seeing and interacting with with him while working at West Virginia University during the past few years. He was a man who demonstrated friendship, leadership, hard work, and provided moral support and advice to those that worked with him. He will greatly be missed. May God bless his family, friends, and associates during this difficult time of mourning.

Ann........Even though it has been over 30 plus years since we have been in touch pain is felt in my heart for you over the loss of your son. My relationship with your late husband and now your son was always one of my fondest memories during my life since they were both such special people. I can still remember the night that George pinned Alex's Eagle Scout pin on his uniform at the Troop 109 Court of Honor and the great talks I had with your family on Kennabec Street. I pray that you are given the strength to make it thru this difficult time and that Alex's memory will always be for a blessing..........Steven Schwartz - Troop 109
