Frank S. Balint, 90, of Morgantown, passed away at the home of his niece and nephew Louis & Kaye Pompili in which he made his home since 2009, on February 6, 2015. He was born on May 11, 1924 in Ward, WV, the son of the late Frank Balint and Agnes Enyedi Balint Gazsi. He was a graduate of Morgantown High School, Class of 1942, and a veteran Navy Yeoman of World War II and the U.S. Naval Reserves. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1949. He received a B.S. degree in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting. He was a life member of Alpha Kappa Psi, professional fraternity for Commerce, Finance, and Accounts. Prior to entering the Navy, he was employed as a clerk for the War Department, Office of Dependency Benefits in Washington, D.C. and Newark, NJ. After graduation from the university, he worked for the Mileground Medical Center and the Morgantown facility of the U.S. Bureau of Mines. From May 1951 thru September 1959, he was employed by the Internal Revenue Service of the U.S. Treasury Department. He served as Deputy Collector/Collection Officer in the Collection Division, as an Internal Revenue Agent, and Auditor of the Audit Division. He also served as Special Agent in the Intelligence Division. He served within the West Virginia District at Wellsburg, Clarksburg, and Wheeling. He was registered as a Public Accountant with the W.V. Board of Accountancy and practiced in Morgantown from 1959 until 1996. He transferred from the IRS to the Post Office Department in Morgantown in 1959 and worked in the Morgantown Post Office until he retired in September 1989. He had over 42 years of Government Service. He is survived by one brother, Charles Gazsi and sister in law, Jeanette of Star City; sister in law, Opal L. Pompili of Morgantown; and sisters and brothers in law, Jean and Mike Pekach of Ohio and John and Bea Pompili of Florida and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and stepfather, Kalman Gazsi, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Pompili Balint on April 10, 2007; a brother and sister in law, Kalman and Jean Gazsi; a nephew, Paul Gazsi; brothers in law, Alfonso L. Pompili, Sr. and Edmund Barbabella; and sisters in law, Lucy Pompili Barbabella and Claudia Pompili. He is also preceded in death by special canine, Lucky, whom Uncle Frank loved and Lucky loved him. The family would like to give a special thank you to the caregivers, Mavis, Richard, Kelly, Leslie, Perla, and Fred, for their care and love and to Dr. Wilbur Sine and Dr. Brian Dixon for their care all through the years. Friends and family will be received at the Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Wednesday, February 11th from 5-8 PM. Visitation will continue in the funeral home on Thursday, February 12th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Reverend Kevin Cain officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
