Coach Bonsall was truly a gentleman and a scholar. He cared for those on his teams like a father. Every trip was a learning experience as he was a master teacher about life, history, and people. Thank you Coach for your kind and caring ways. You will be missed by many. May your rest in peace. My deepest sympathy to the entire Bonsall family.

Deepest sympathy and prayers to Bill's family. William "Bill" Bonsall had a major impact on my life. A country boy from Wood County WV and a gymnast from Parkersburg High School, the only school in the state with competitive boy's gymnastics, Bill gave me a scholarship to attend WVU in 1960. After graduation, I served in the USAF as a bombardier in B-52s retiring in 1988. While in the Air Force, I served as the USAFA gymnastics coach for five years getting the position with Bill's assistance. My last contact with Bill was at a gymnastics reunion at WVU about 10 years ago where we had a great time catching up with each other. I can't imagine where I would be today if he hadn't provided me an opportunity to attend West Virginia University and be a collegiate gymnast.

Dear Janet,
I have fond memories of your Dad (and Mother) as teenagers as well as a recent visit with them 2 years ago in Morgantown. Your father was quite and accomplished man and hopefully, you will hold onto all the fond memories you have of him.
Remember, those are not stars in the sky, but rather peep-holes fro those who have passed to look down on us with their love. Once in a while, look back and blow him a kiss.
My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family. Keep sharing his love.
R.I.P. Bill Bonsall. You left a wonderful legacy of bravery, kindness and success.
Isabel Perry .

I am so very sorry for your loss! I just hope that you can understand how very very difficult it is for me to even begin to say how coaches has been such a huge part of my life. The amount of respect and caring for coach has been that of my dearest family members. I have viewed and sought his approval for who I am and what I do just as I have my father. When Paul and Coach would come to the gym it was always very special. It was great to talk about old times but, showing him new things in the gym and things as I was working on were very proud moment for me, as like I said I really wanted his approval. He always made me feel special and interested of what was going on.
I only found out about coaches passing when a reporter called me from the newspaper. It took a while for me to call him back. I went on my computer and saw that I could contact you through a message. Please let me know if there's anything I can do and anyway that I can attend the services.
May God bless!
Gene
