I have only just learned of Dr. Lindsay's death.
When I lived in Morgantown, he saved my life more than once, and for some years after I left Morgantown for New Jersey, I returned once a year to have an annual physical and reaffirmation of life from Hugh Lindsay.
He was not only a highly competent physician, and intelligent human being, he had a wit, humor, and perspective that helped to balance what could sometimes be a quite insane world. I have missed seeing him since the time I had to stop flying into Morgantown for that annual physical, and am genuinely sorry I've missed the opportunity to tell him that even decades after that time, he remains the very best doctor and one of the best friends I've ever experienced.

Mrs. Lindsay, my dear Annie, and the entire family, I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed seeing Dr. Lindsay when he came to Maryland to see his grandchildren perform in our Stagelight Productions shows. He was always so dignified, elegant, and humble. I celebrate his life with you and offer you my deepest condolences.

Helen.
It is with sadness, that I learned of Hugh's death. Please accept my sincere condolences. I can still see in my minds eye, Hugh jogging in the neighborhood and the house on 705, his office for several years.
It's funny that you learn of the life of someone after they die. I knew of his faculty appointment in Physiology and his MD and his remarkable practice career, but I didn't know of his Canadian origin.
I too am a person born in 1926. Although my roots are in Italy, the identical goals of my parents for me, was education and more education.. He was an inspiration for me.
My wife and I moved to Pittsburgh in April. We are in a retirement community, close to our daughter. If I remember correctly, you participated in one of my coures's at OLLI. If I'm wrong forgive me. Receiving the OLLI Newsletter, makes me feel I'm not totally divorced from such good Morgantown friends. Our 36 years there were a treasure.

It was my great privilege to be related to Hugh, and my loss to have known him so little. I am grateful that in the past few years, we established the correspondence that led to our reuniting at last in July. I found him truly to be a gentleman and a scholar, loved and respected by his family and his community.
Go in peace, Hugh, and may your loving wife, children and grandchildren find the strength to bear your loss, knowing they were blessed to have had you in their lives.

Deepest sympathy and prayers to the family and friends of Dr. Hugh Alexander Lindsay. My family and I have known the Lindsays over 50 years and my mother knew his lovely wife Helen Whitesides prior to her becoming Mrs. Lindsay.HUgh enjoyed singing tenor and as a member of WVU Choral Union had honor singing alongside him in rehearsals and performance under directors Max Peterson, Constance DeFotis, Kathleen Shannon and others. Hugh 's wit was unmatched only by his intellect, He engaged all in discourse that was informative and humorous. Respected as a long time physician he utilized his skills aiding health of many Morgantown families . Acrtive in his community, he had strong faith and deep love for his family. He will be missed by many. Blessings.

I want to offer my sincere condolences to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss. Our Heavenly father, Jehovah God, in His word the Bible, calls death an enemy (1Cor. 15:26). He promises in the very near future to do away with death(Rev. 21:4, 5). At that time tragedies and accidents will be a thing of the past, and no one will ever get sick (Isaiah 33:24), and there will be a reuniting, a bringing back to life instead of losing life (John 5:28,29). I hope these words can give you some comfort and hope (2 Cor. 1:3, 4). Once again I am so sorry for your loss.
