Send condolences online at www.hastingsfuneralhome.com. *** Mrs. Bonney, 83, of Morgantown., died Tuesday, January 12, 2016. She was born in Cleveland, Ohio to parents Doris and Wilbur Kurtz, and graduated from the Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Class of 1950. Mrs. Bonney graduated from New Hampshire’s Colby-Sawyer College in 1952. After graduating from Colby-Sawyer, Mrs. Bonney worked at University Hospitals of Cleveland where she met the late Dr. Walter Allen Bonney, Jr. The couple were married in Shaker Heights in 1956. Immediately following their marriage, Dr. Bonney entered the U.S. Army as a captain and the Bonneys were stationed in Landstuhl, West Germany, from 1956-58. Dr. and Mrs. Bonney returned to the States in 1958 after the birth of their oldest daughter, the late Susan E. Bonney, and lived in New York City during Dr. Bonney’s medical residency at Sloane Hospital for Women at New York-Presbyterian Hospital & Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. In 1962, the Bonneys moved to Nashville, Tennessee where Mrs. Bonney gave birth to the couple’s middle daughter, the late Lynne D. Bonney. The Bonneys relocated to Morgantown in 1966, where Dr. Bonney became professor and chairman of the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at West Virginia University. Mrs. Bonney gave birth to their youngest daughter, Amy Bonney-Hoffman, at WVU. Mrs. Bonney is survived by her daughter, Amy Bonney-Hoffman of Seattle, Washington; son-in-law, David A. Hoffman of Seattle; grandson, Andrew Kurtz Hoffman of Seattle; brother, David Doty Kurtz, Sr., of Willoughby, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bonney was predeceased by her husband and two oldest daughters, and will be laid to rest next to her family, and her beloved English Springer Spaniels, in Dr. Bonney’s hometown of Enterprise, Mississippi. In keeping with her wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation to celebrate the lives of Dr. and Mrs. Bonney at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown on Monday, January 25th from 4-6p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests any donations be sent to the Hathaway Brown School in Shaker Heights, Ohio: www.hb.edu
