Dear Meredith,
So very sorry to hear of Vaughn's passing. News takes awhile to get to northern Illinois.
I first met Vaughn in Freshman Phys Ed at WVU. He was then the drummer for the Bonnevilles, the hottest band in Morgantown. Along with other Phi Sig pledges in the class, we rushed Vaughn. He pledged the next semester & went on to become Mr. Phi Sig. In my every mental image of Vaughn, he is smiling. What a great guy.
Sincerely,
Jack Kenna

When we moved to Morgantown, I decided to check into being a Real Estate Agent, so I went and met with Vaughn. I had a wonderful two years working for him, and later regretted leaving him for J.S. Walker. He was such a great guy, he was always good to me! He really "got" my sense of humor, and I think I made him laugh a lot! He was so much like my own Dad, too. He had an amazing spirit!

Dear Meredith and family,
I was saddened to hear of Vaughn's passing. Although he may not have remembered, he was a very supportive friendly competitor of mine when I started my now 42 year career in real estate back in 1974. I also knew him from WVU and he was always the gentleman. What a legacy he has left. Best wishes to you all. Mary Lu (ML)

Vaughn was my landlord and neighbor across the street since 2006. Even though he sold my building a few years ago, I always considered him a constant presence.
Vaughn took time out from his day to offer me his advice and ask how I was doing. I always respected and appreciated his honesty and sence of razor sharp humor.
You always knew where you stood with Vaughn, and I considered him a friend and mentor.
He will be missed dearly.
My condolences to his family and friends, he was a hell of a guy and a snappy dresser.
Sincerely,

Meredith,
I'm writing to express my condolences to you regarding Vaughn's death. Vaughn lived a fabulous life setting an example for all those who knew him. My recollections come from our college days in the fraternity and summers at the Beach. These are fond memories for me of him and I expect for you also. He showed his remarkable character, willingness to lead and willingness to set example even then when we were just starting down life's pathway. My thoughts will be with you and his memory on the 12th.
I appreciate the pathway to be able to contribute to an organization for which he cared and so accordingly contributed to the Salvation Army of Morgantown. This is a nice way to be able to commemorate someone. Again thank you for providing this opportunity.
Sincerely,
Herb Loyd

Vaughn was indeed one of a kind. When he entered a room it lit up. When he came in there might have been some folks he didn't know but that would change by the time he left.
Not sure anyone can exceed his love for West Virginia University - indeed his service to the University in so many capacities will not soon (if ever) be surpassed.
I say without hesitation that the University, his fraternity, the city of Morgantown and the State of West Virginia all are better for Vaughn's unselfish dedication and service.
Deepest sympathy to Meredith and family

I only wish that I could have talked to "Coach" (as we called each other) before he died. Kay and I are in Florida, but will be back by March 12th.

To the Vaughn Kiger Family,
I had the privilege of knowing Vaughn from our High School days at Morgantown High School and our experiences in the band. When we went to West Virginia University, we lost touch as he was a Phi Sig and I, a Phi Psi. He remained in Morgantown and made all proud, and I moved to North Carolina to start my adult life.
Reading about his many accomplishments and the many lives he touched during what I consider a very short life, I am reminded of his outgoing personality and energy during our time in school. He genuinely made the most of his time here on earth, and I am confident that your family, all of the folks in Morgantown and all of the organizations in which he participated wished you had more time to share his vitality and love.
God bless you all during this difficult time.

Vaughn Kiger, the best basketball player at Morgantown High School who never played.
Driven always to succeed. I admired Vaughn from afar for many years. I admired his determination to live, work and succeed in Morgantown while many of us sought fame and fortune elsewhere. Morgantown and WVU lost a great man and leader with his passing. Rest in peace Vaughn, you have earned your reward. May God comfort and heal your family in their grief and sorrow.

This town has lost of of the "all time greats." Vaughn was a great friend and mentor to me stemming back from my days at Old Phi Sig up through my first days as a real estate lawyer, to my wedding and all the way to a few months ago when we did our last deal together. Forever the professional, Vaughn just had a way to cut through the red tape and just get the deal done.
Never have I met a more generous, altruistic community member than Mr. Kiger. He was involved in everything and gave his time and money to so many causes they can't be listed in the amount of space allotted here.
Thank you for all that you were. I will miss you greatly. My deepest condolences to the family. God Bless.

I was an active member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity in the early 1980's. Mr. Kiger was always a highlight at fraternity alumni events. He was deeply interested in the history and reputation of the fraternity, and in the lives and experiences of current members. He was always gracious and generous with his time and advice. Future members, who will not have the pleasure of interacting with him, will be the poorer for it. To his family and friends, please accept my most sincere condolences for your loss.

Vaughn Kiger was a man of extreme integrity. He was a friend to everyone he met and one who sought to be helpful. Certainly, he will be missed by many, many people.
I had the privilege of knowing him from our grade school days at Second Ward School, through Junior High and High School. He epitomized the very best of what a West Virginian should be.
Those of us who knew him consider ourselves fortunate. How sad for his family and how sad for us all. How proud we are to claim him as loved one and friend.

Adrian and Family -
I was so sorry to hear about the passing of your father. He was such a wonderful man and I enjoyed our time together last Summer in Bethany Beach when I had the chance to spend some time with the the three of you. He was so good with Marlin and even with my kids. He just seemed to soak up the beach and being around the youth, a memory I won't forget.
Meredith - I know we don't know each other well, but I do want to pass along my condolences to you and please know that you and your family are in my prayers. Couples like the two of you are an inspiration and I hope that I will be as lucky to be married for well over 40 years and have as strong a bond of partnership and friendship with my husband, Drew, that I know you shared with Vaughn.
With deepest sympathies,
Laura Barker

My deepest and sincere condolences to Vaughn's wife Meredith, their children, and the extended family. In this time of loss one must reflect on Vaughn's accomplishments and he has many.. He was a man for and of all seasons. As a fellow REALTOR, I knew Vaughn for over 30 years and in that time our paths crossed many times. During all these interactions Vaughn was always professional and wanted all outcomes for the parties to be win - win. You will be missed by all and I as a graduate of The Ohio State University will miss your teasing me as being a worthless buckeye nut.
