David B. Tenney, 69, of Cheat Lake, died Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family; following a courageous battle with AL Amyloidosis. He was born March 28, 1947, at Fort Knox, KY, the son of the late James Coolidge Tenney and Georgia Weese Tenney Goza. A 1965 graduate of Morgantown High School, he served in the United States Air Force, Special Operations Group (SOG), from 1965-1985. After retiring from the Air Force in 1985, he was employed as a telecommunications specialist with the Department of Defense, both in Europe and Washington, D.C. In 2000, he took an associate’s position with the private firm, Booz-Allen & Hamilton, ASE, INC in McLean, VA, working as a Spectrum Management Technical Consultant. Having served in both the Dominican Republic and Vietnam, he was awarded the Purple Heart, two Silver Stars, the Bronze Star Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Vietnam Gallantry Cross, the Vietnam Wound Medal, and other meritorious medals. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte A. Tenney; two sons: James J. Tenney and wife, Heather, of Florence, KY and Christopher L. Tenney, of United Kingdom; three grandchildren: Dylan and Kate Tenney and Mabel Forster-Tenney; half-sister, Virginia Tenney Kman and husband, Frank, of Medina, OH; niece, Jen Kman Bechley and husband, Michael, of Medina, OH; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Vickie and Scott Clarke of Morgantown, WV, Carolyn and Steve Shaffner of Warsaw, IN, Bonnie and Butch Travise of French Creek, WV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Theodore Goza. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Sunday, June 5th from 1-5 p.m. and again on Monday, June 6th from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with Rev. Charles May officiating. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery with full graveside military honors conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars post 9916 and Camp Dawson Honor Guard.
