Anna Pervola
On the afternoon of Thursday, July 28th at Pt. Marion Personal Care Home, our beloved Anna Pervola was embraced peacefully and gently in God’s arms.
Anna was born on February 15th, 1922 to Maxine and Samuel Katchan in Star City, WV. The youngest of four siblings, she lived her entire life a stone’s throw away from the very home where she was born.
Anna lived a truly amazing life during her 94 years on this Earth. Growing up during the Depression, she worked along side her mother gardening and helping her run the family’s neighborhood grocery store. Anna married at a young age and was employed by Seneca and Morgantown Glass Factories to create patterns on glassware. Before becoming parents, Anna and her husband Joe enjoyed endless time in the great outdoors hunting, fishing, and camping. After her husband’s passing, Anna became a world traveler, visiting places such as Russia, Japan, and the Holy Land, but her favorite pastime was always camping with her family. Along with hard work and sacrifice, her positive attitude blessed her life with love, friendship, adventure, and family. As Anna grew older, she remained independent and vibrant well into her nineties. She devoted her life to helping raise her grandchildren. She was such an integral part of her family's lives, and she embodied honesty, loyalty, and unconditional love.
Anna is survived by her two children, Maxine Arbogast, and Joesph Lewis Pervola, Jr. and wife Patty. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Stephanie Gordon and husband Boa of Jupiter FL, Teresa Bierer and husband Brian of Dilliner PA, Lori Anne Sherlock and husband Brian, Michael Arbogast and wife Shannon, Crystal Pervola, and Joseph Edward Pervola and wife Trista, as well as 6 great-grandchildren, Colby and Max Gordon, Devon and Koma, and Joseph and Ava Pervola.
Among the many people Anna loved in her long life, she will be reunited with her husband Joseph Pervola, her sisters Mary Pervola and Stella Wheeler and brother John “Katch” Katchan, as well as her grandson Larry Arbogast Jr.
Per Anna’s wishes, a private service will be held for her immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in loving memory of Anna Pervola and grandson Larry Joseph Arbogast to WVU Medicine Children’s (formerly WVU Children’s Hospital).
