Mary Jane Gregory, 94, of Morgantown passed away peacefully to a better place with family by her side on August 25th, 2016 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She joins loved ones who passed before her whom she often thought of meeting again. She was born on July 29th, 1922 in Hyndman, PA, the daughter of the late Basil Wilhelm and Mabel Ruth (Shaffer) Wilhelm Squires. Jane was a 1940 graduate of Morgantown High School. She was proud to be a homemaker who loved to tend to her vegetable gardens and bake wonderful pies for her husband and children. She also loved to go wild berry picking and mushroom hunting in the Little Falls community, especially with her good friend and neighbor of many years, Virginia Devault. She enjoyed taking long walks with family and friends and in recent years at Friendship Manor where she last resided. She enjoyed many travels in later years with her sister Wilda after learning to drive at the age of 59. She also took many trips with the Senior Monongalians including trips to Alaska, Hawaii, Nova Scotia and Puerto Rico. In recent years she always made a point to attend the Shaffer family reunion near Hyndman, PA to visit with her cousins and was one of the oldest to continue to attend. Mary Jane attended Pisgah United Methodist Church on Smithtown Road for many years and was a member and past secretary of the Pisgah Memorial Society. Jane is survived by 2 children, daughter Clancy Ruth Clark and husband Alvin of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and son John Gregory and wife Kristie (Johnson) of Morgantown, WV; a sister, Jean Whittington and husband Bernard of Sissonville, WV; a grandson, Lee Kirkland of Westover, WV; and a great-grandson, Zachary Kirkland and a great-granddaughter, Jasmine Kirkland of Douglas, GA. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and special friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Gilbert Gregory, her sister, Wilda Elmo, and her brother Lawrence Wilhelm. The family would especially like to express their appreciation for the care and concern given by the hospice team, chaplins , caregivers and physicians (Dr. Sandra Pedraza, Dr. Carl Grey, Dr. Mayada Issa, Dr. Robert Shapiro and Dr. V.K. Chivukula) at WVU Medicine Ruby Memorial Hospital as well as by her caregivers from Right at Home (Sandra) and Visiting Homemakers (Donna and Barb) and also the therapists at Madision Rehabilitation. In keeping with Mary Jane's wishes she will be cremated. Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Friday, September 23rd from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. A graveside committal service will be held at Pisgah Cemetery, Rt. 73, Morgantown on Saturday, September 24th at 11 AM.
