Harold Foster “Abe” Friend, 88, of Morgantown, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at his residence.
Abe was born in Whetsell Settlement, WV on November 14, 1927, the son of Clarence Jacob and Lilly Ethel Braham Friend.
He worked for 38 years for Beneficial Finance as a manager and continued to work for 10 additional years for Banner Construction Company. Abe was also a Charter Member of the Cheat Lake Lions Club and enjoyed going to WVU football games for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Jean Friend; stepson, Richard “Richie” A. Fraley of Morgantown; sisters, Letha Freme of Westover and Ileda Cheslock and her husband Ernie of Fairmont and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a stepson, Randy Fraley; sisters, Virginia Fox, Myrtle Swiderski, and Letisha Freme.
In keeping with his wishes, cremation services have been entrusted to Hastings Funeral Home in Morgantown and private family services will take place at a later date.
