I am saddened to hear about the passing of your dad! He was a very sweet man. I am happy to have caught up with him during his visit to Salinas in January. He was always a joy to be around. I remember as a teenager hearing a Pink Floyd "album" at his house. Every time I hear them , I think of him! Peace to you & your families.

Charles will be missed. He was all about family. He came all the way to California to help my Mom, Vivian Hintze, celebrate her 100th birthday two years ago, and also came to see us for Mom's memorial service in January. We are very grateful that we had that one last time to meet with Charles.

Katie, Krista,Karen and all the family may The Lord surround you with His Holy angels and bring you comfort and peace as you celebrate dad's life and gifts to each of you.

Dear Karen, Krista, Katie,
The loss of your Dad is being felt by so many folks, though we are confident Charlie is in
the good company of our Lord & Savior. Charlie endeared himself to others, including
parishioners at Church of The Cross, where he worshiped and served with a servant
heart for many years. I always felt good in Charlie's company, and greatly admired and
respected his love and care of you, followed by pride & delight in his grandchildren.
I will miss Charlie's presence....he 'saved' me on a cold/snowy day in the Church parking
lot when I slumped by my car from a fainting spell and no one was around. Charlie appeared like an angel and got help for me. I knew he was an angel then and I know it
now....God rest your good soul, Charlie.
May God comfort and strengthen you and your families. Keep the wonderful memories
of your Dad most close to your heart and be joyful.
In Christ,
Susan Sverha

Cousin Charlie was more like an Uncle to me. I loved having him around as a little girl, he sure has a sweet way with children. I am so thankful for the time we got to spend together this last month. Especially time around the dinner table and playing on the coast in Monterey. my whole family grew to love Charlie in a very short amount of time. He will be missed greatly. My heart and prayers go to his girls and their families.❤

Charles' father and my Grandpa Harold were brothers. Memories of many holidays were made special by Charles entertaining "us kids". He took us on our first airplane ride and had stories of places he had been. I've always had great admiration for Charles and his down to earth- straight from the heart concern for others.

We are remembering Charlie for the many good times we have had over the years. A tour of Washington D.C. was one of the big highlights and the many cribbage games we played in the evening. It is my desire that Karen, Krista and Katie and families will have so many good memories to remember him by. He was a great man. My sincere sympathies to all. God Bless You!!!!

Dear Karen, Krista, and Katie,
We were so sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing, although we are happy that he is with Our Lord in Heaven and hope you are comforted by that. We were honored to have your dad as a friend at Lutheran Church of the Cross. Over the years we participated with him in Bible studies and many other church activities. We always enjoyed hearing from him about you, your families, and his travels. Ken especially enjoyed discussing with your dad their mutual interest in Australian Football and rock bands/music.We will continue to keep you and your families are in our prayers.

I was 3 years behind Charlie at Chamberlain but knew him and looked up to him. I also followed him to the South Dakota School of Mines and saw him often and talked with him during my first year there, when he was a senior. He always had encouraging words for a young student and was one of the reasons I majored Geological Engineering.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family in these sad times.

I had the distinct pleasure and honor of "traveling" through Chamberlain High with Charlie. Even though I was a year younger, I spent much time and had many laughs with Charlie and my brother, Randy, and many other friends. If there is one thing to be said about Charlie, he was a True Friend. He carried a happy persona about him always and never had a bad word to say about anyone. His faith shined through his words and actions. And now his (our) Saviour holds him safely in His loving arms and Charlie's light shines in heaven for all to see. I pray for you, his daughters and all his family, to find peace in your grief and joy in knowing that you will see him again. This is Jesus' promise to all who believe.

Prayers and condolences to Charlie's family from another fellow member of the Chamberlain Cubs class of '68 class.
Whether it was on the sports field, Mrs. Labidee's junior high science classes, Mrs. Thiel's math classes, Mrs. Caldwell's English classes or in Mr. Vetter's band practice, Charlie brought fun, laughter and just enough mischief to bring a smile to our faces!
Our heartfelt sympathies

Karen, Krista & Katie: May God Bless you during this sad time. Your dad's mom and our mother were great friends. We spent a lot of time at her house. Charlie was a dear cousin and friend to us. In high school, we often seemed like brother and sister. Fortunately, I got to see him in September 2014 when we visited him and toured Washington, D.C. I still smile when I remember him saying that he walked with the "Harold Hintze waddle". I remember many times, but in particular, the time he had just gotten the cast off his broken leg, went out and broke that leg again. His mom just looked at him and shook her head. Charlie was thoughtful and kind to all of us and always made sure to stop to see our mom when he was in Chamberlain The last time he stopped to see her, he locked his keys in the car. We got a chance to help him that day. God Bless all of you. He loved you so much and was so proud of you. Rest In Peace dear Charlie. We already miss you.

I was saddened to hear from Chuck Leiferman about Charlie's (I'm sorry, I just could never call him Charles) passing. Charlie, Chuck and I were cousins born 3 days apart in the Chamberlain hospital, he was always the oldest, albeit by 3 days, and in many ways the de facto leader among the 3 cousins. Chuck and Charlie are grandsons of Charles Leiferman and I am a grandson of Charles' brother John. Your Dad and I grew up together and lived just a few blocks apart. I remember so many things about our shared life including our Cub Scout Den, spending the night at his house with Charlie and "Auntie Bea" and I have vivid memories of the days following his Dad Milton's death at a very young age. We were close through grade school and high school, both of us went off to college and got engineering degrees and our lives diverged. We remained in touch at class reunions and chance meetings in South Dakota.
Then several years ago, through FaceBook, we reconnected and shared stories and life events not the least of which was finding out that the other had a first Grandson named Logan just barely different in age. Another crazy birth coincidence. I know he loved his girls and his grandchildren, it was obvious in the pictures. It was evident through his pictures and posts that he especially loved being with and travelling with his family.
I, too, lost my Dad at 67 and I still miss him today nearly 30 years later. He embraced life fully the way Charlie embraced life. Not a day goes by that I don't think of my Dad and smile. My hope for you is that when you get through the loss you get to the point that you can do the same. He was a wonderful guy.
I have some pictures of family, our Cub Scout Den and some other stuff that might be of interest to you. I would be happy to send them if you would like. Let me know at my email address gusto.ace@gmail.com.
You have my deepest sympathy.
