Obituary of Margaret Summers

Margaret L. Summers, 88, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, July 9th at Mon Health Medical Center.  She was born July 23, 1928, a daughter of the late James Oliver and Ada Mae (Dalton) Hart. 

As a child and in early adulthood, she was an active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church and the Kingwood Pike Community.  In 1963, after purchasing their farm and new home place in the Georgetown community in Monongalia County, she worked side by side with her husband, Ralph.  She was active at the Snider Temple United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher and pianist.  In her free time, she enjoyed cooking and tending to her flowers.  She most especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children, James “John” Summers and his wife Phyllis of Bruceton Mills, Linda Strawser and her husband Raymond of Morgantown, Gloria Rowan and her husband Gary of Morgantown, and Kimberly Suder and her husband Tim of Morgantown; grandchildren, Kelly West and her husband Reed, Robyn Toner and her husband Bill, Crystal Street and her husband Joe, Courtney Hohman and her husband Greg, Gretchen Mapel and her husband Jacob, Garret Rowan and his wife Ashley, and Chad Suder and his wife, Casey; great grandchildren, Lindsey and Rachel West, Quinn Toner, Logan and Tyler Street, Olivia and Owen Hohman, Margaret and Hannah Mapel,  Addison Rowan, and Brea Suder; sister, Geraldine Dalton; and special nephew, Bradley Dalton.  She is also survived by several brothers-in law, sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. 

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ralph W. Summers and her father and mother in law, Ray and Josie Summers.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, on Tuesday, July 11th from 3-8 PM and again on Wednesday, July 12th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM.  Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
