Obituary of Billie Jean Long
Billie Jean "Jeannie" McGinn Long, 73, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017, surrounded by family and friends at her residence.
Jeannie was born in Cumberland, Maryland, on August 29, 1943, the daughter of the late William J. McGinn (1978) and Madeline "Howell" Thayer (2010).
Jeannie worked as a Cook for the Monongalia County Board of Education until she retired. Along with her husband, she owned and operated Tranquility Mobile Home Park.
Jeannie is survived by one son, Tim Long and his significant other, Tina, of Morgantown; two grandsons Derek and Caleb of Morgantown; two step granddaughters Marlana and Josh of Reedsville; Jamilyn and Joshua of Arthurdale; and two step great grandchildren Ziva and Cobun.
In addition to her parents, Jeannie was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Carroll Adam "Bud" Long in November of 2011; stepfathers Walter "Red" Alderton (1959) and John "Pip" Thayer (1999), and a step granddaughter Taylor (2002).
Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce Street, Morgantown, on Thursday, August 3rd from 6-9 PM and on Friday, August 4th from 9 AM until the time of service at 11 AM with Chaplain Kathleen Kennedy of WV Caring officiating. Entombment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
