Obituary of Lois Jean McCartney
Lois Jean (Williams) McCartney, 82, of Morgantown, peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 31, 2017, at Mapleshire Nursing Home surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 20, 1934, in Morgantown, daughter of the late James Williams and Pearl (Johnson) Williams.
Jean entered Mapleshire Nursing Home in August and resided there until her death. She was a lifelong member of Summers United Methodist Church, but attended Bethel Baptist Church and Johnson’s Chapel United Methodist Church in her later years after the closing of Summers church. She was a loving homemaker and enjoyed reading, quilting, canning, cooking for her family and friends, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her husband of almost 65 years. She also enjoyed keeping a daily journal of everything that was going on with her family, the community and the family farm.
Jean is survived by her husband, Foster McCartney, of Morgantown; three sons, Ronnie McCartney and his wife, Corkey, of Morgantown; Michael McCartney and his wife, Anita, of Morgantown; and Raymond McCartney and his wife, Rene, of Fairmont; three grandsons, Randy McCartney and his wife, Kristi, of Morgantown; Ryan McCartney and his wife, Lauren, of Denver, CO; and Nate McCartney, of Fairmont; a great-granddaughter, Finnlee McCartney, of Morgantown; a step grandson, Bryan Gribble and his wife, Meagan, of Morgantown; a step granddaughter, Delilah Long, of Kingwood; a step great-grandson, Wyatt Gribble, of Morgantown, and a step great-granddaughter, Mackenzie Gribble, of Morgantown.
In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Barbour and Lillian Blosser; a son, Marvin McCartney; and a grandson, Kurt McCartney.

Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements. Friends and family will be received at Community United Methodist Church, 1966 Grafton Rd., Morgantown on Friday, November 3rd from 2-8 and again on Saturday, November 4th from 10 AM until the time of the funeral service at 11 AM with Rev. Brad Bennett and Rev. Peggy Petrich officiating. Interment will follow at Summers Cemetery.
